Outlook Spymail Scanner

Who is spying on your email?

Spymail is a growing risk for email users in professional settings. Research indicates up to 40% of emails sent today contain hidden tracking. While most such spymails are used by marketers to track prospect engagement, the same technology is now increasingly exploited by malicious agents. We detect 0.5-1% of emails with hidden tracking pose particularly high risk to recipient firms and their customers by increasing their exposure to privacy loss, cyberattack, and legal liability. Learn more about these risks in our knowledge base.

In order to help organizations properly assess their risk exposure, MailControl has created a free Outlook Spymail Scanner which identifies the presence of hidden tracking code in user inboxes, no matter how far back an email was received.

The Outlook Spymail Scanner is a great diagnostics tool for IT professionals.

  • Free: unlimited scans when used for evaluative purposes
  • Fast: results usually available within an hour
  • Simple: just install, enter API key, and click run
  • Secure: the content of your emails never leave your computer
  • Reporting: detailed report available for you to circulate internally upon request

  • Windows 7, 8, or 10
  • Microsoft Outlook 2010, 2013, or 2016
  • Please note that we reserve the right to anonymously include detected spymail incident rates to our database to improve our anti-spymail services. Learn more about our privacy policy here.

The scanner transmits only email metadata (headers and detected tracking code) in order to identify spymails, and does not transmit or store email body text or attachments. You can further choose between a limited scan, which reports out de-identified spymails, or a full scan which includes senders, recipients, and subjects for a more accurate risk assessment. Scan speed will vary based on your inbox size and computer. Please contact info@mailcontrol.net if you are a security consultant and wish to license the Outlook Spymail Scanner for commercial use.
